Itinerary
FRIDAY 4TH OCTOBER
Drive over to our exclusively booked hostel right on the sea front at Port Eynon. Situated on the most southerly point of the Gower peninsula and converted from South Gower’s former lifeboat station, YHA Port Eynon enjoys unparalleled sea views from its large lounge windows and offers guests a close up with the forces of nature.
We will spend Friday eve meeting the other guests and settling in.
SATURDAY 5TH OCTOBER
Optional pre-breakfast swim at Port Eynon (self guided)
Saturday's Hike: Rhosilli circular (subject to weather)
Distance: 12 - 14km (option to walk out to worms head)
Ascent: 367m
Grading: Intermediate - some steep ascents and descents and rocky underfoot in places.
An epic and memorable hike around this rugged and wild stretch of coast. We'll hike along this craggy coastline, walk along the sea bed to the Worms Head (tide permitting) and up to the highest point on the peninsular - The Beacon (193m). We'll end the hike with a stroll along the award-winning Rhosilli bay and a drink at the Worms Head pub.
We will then head back to our hostel for a delicious home-cooked meal and free time for games or head out gaze at the stars from the beach.
Optional pre-breakfast swim at Port Eynon

Distance: tbc - we may split into 2 groups and do different routes depending on group ability/tiredness!

I like to make these hikes as enjoyable as possible for everyone, so I keep a slow and steady pace. It's about taking in the views and being in nature, not about rushing to the finish line. Having said that, you are responsible for your own health and safety. If you are unsure as to whether you are fit to come on these hikes, please either consult your doctor or let me know your concerns.
All our hike leaders are qualified and hold a level 3 Outdoor First Aid certificate so will be on hand in case of an emergency.
