Weekly Blog 20/11: Jordan adventures, Autumn swims & Mushroom Foraging

Nov 20, 2023

Welcome to our new weekly blogs where I will update you all on events happening within the club as well what me (the founder) has been up to.

I'm currently at my desk, the rain has stopped and the sun is beaming down on me and it is so blissful. The last of the autumn leaves are about to drop and nature is slowing down for the winter so I'm trying to do that too. I hope you can join me :)

Alice's diary:

This time last week I was in Jordan with an amazing group of The Adventure Girls Club. What an incredible trip we had, it totally surpassed expectations! We hiked around Dana Nature Reserve, trekked through the back door to Petra (which is just absolutely mind-blowing), rode in open-top trucks through Wadi Rum's Mars-like landscape, climbed Jordans highest peak, floated in the Dead sea at the lowest point on Earth and ate our bodies weight in hummus. It's a country definitely worth adding to your bucket list - we went with Much Better Adventures and I'd highly recommend them!

Since I've been back I've just been trying to get back into routine, I went for a very cold 11 degree swim at Vobster, and I've been appreciating the local countryside walks full of wildlife and stunning colours of the trees.

As much as I love travelling, no one talks about how exhausting it is so I always feel grateful to come back and appreciate the slower life at home with my cat :)

In the spotlight: Our Winter talk about Mushroom Foraging with Emma Ratcliffe

This year is the first time we're doing our Winter talks, where you can feel inspired and learn more about the outdoors without leaving your sofa 😉

On Thursday we have Emma Ratcliffe coming on to talk all things mushroom foraging. So if you've been noticing all the amazing mushrooms about this year and want to know what they're called and if you can eat them, be sure to come along.

Can't wait to see you there!
