Weekly Blog: Husky Sledging in Lapland, Winter wonderland in the Brecon Beacons and walking among giants in Longleat Forest

Dec 04, 2023

Morning!

How are you doing? What a beautiful week we've had with some of you enjoying the snow and others just a gorgeous frosty landscape. I'm really starting to get excited for Christmas now!

Here's my weekly blog, I hope you enjoy!

Alice's diary:

The highlight of my week was our group hike on Friday. Five of us made it over to the Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons and we have an absolutely perfect day of hiking around Rhos Dirion and Grwyne Fawr Reservoir. It was frosty and the sun came out over the clouds just as we made it to the summit giving us a cloud inversion where we could see the tops of Pen Y Fan & Cribyn in the distance. Magic!

Saturday was gorgeous too as I spontaneously decided to get out of my busy town and head for my favourite local walk down Vallis Vale in Frome. It was misty and frosty and full of moss, fungi and lichen and I'm always reminded when I walk down there that I never need to travel far to see the beauty of nature.

Yesterday a group of 14 of us walked around another of my favourite local walks in Longleat forest. It was forecast rain all day but it actually ended up being a beautiful day with some mist shrouding the tall redwood trees and rising off of Shearwater lake. We finished the day with a cuppa in the Tea Rooms at Shearwater. It was such a lovely group and I loved sharing my favourite walk with you all!
