Accommodation
In Munich, you stay in a simple, comfortable hotel near the main train station in twin or double rooms that include private bathrooms.
At Meissner Haus, a traditional mountain hut, we stay in shared rooms, exclusively within our group to ensure a cozy and familiar atmosphere. The hut offers a variety of sleeping options with a mix of bunk and regular beds spread over two floors.
In addition, there are two larger dormitories where other guests may stay. In total, Meissnerhaus has about 50 beds.
For washing facilities, the hut provides toilets on three floors and two free showers in the female washing room, available when there is enough water — which is usually the case.
The hut features a large warm and inviting common room, and a spacious dining terrace that we share with fellow hikers. Each day, the hut provides a breakfast buffet and a hearty two-course vegetarian or vegan dinner. A packed lunch can be made fresh from the breakfast buffet. And there is a tasty selection of local Austrian dishes available from the hut's menu throughout the day. The kitchen does its best to accommodate dietary restrictions, yet options may be limited due to the hut’s remote location and basic setup.

About us
About our guide
My name is Johanna, and I am a VDBS qualified mountain guide, a qualified UIMLA mountain leader, and a qualified yoga teacher (RYT 200). I founded Shanti Treks to create a hiking experience that brings together what I am passionate about. First, I love being in the mountains and experiencing new routes off the beaten tracks. Second, it is about connecting the body and mind with the nature around me and observing it with all my senses. And third, it is about bringing like-minded people together and forming new bonds.
Shanti is a Sanskrit word and means peace. The courage to create my own hiking business was fuelled during a long break in the Himalayas of India and Nepal. Afterwards, I started the mountain guide training and a degree in South Asian studies and Hindi at Bonn university. Hence, the name goes with the theme of leading people to find peace in the mountains.
I have been living near the Bavarian Alps all my childhood, but it has not been until I moved to London, one of Europe’s biggest cities, that I became passionate about hiking. For the past ten years, I have spent every holiday in the great outdoors all over the world. Since 2020, I live, study, and work in Bonn, and take every opportunity to go to the mountains. With Shanti Treks I am excited to start a new chapter of leading people into the mountains and passing on my knowledge, experience and passion about the great outdoors.
About our host
Hi I'm Alice, founder and CEO of The Adventure Girls Club. I'm passionate about reconnecting women back to nature through adventure and outdoor skills. I set up the club because I didn't feel like I belonged in the outdoor community and I wanted to create a safe space for women like me to head out and enjoy the outdoors in their own way. The club has now become an incredible community that I'm super proud of and I love meeting all the wonderful people who come along to our events. It's the best feeling seeing everyone come away feeling more connected to nature and making connections with other like-minded women too.
I'm a UK qualified Mountain Leader and run many trips in the UK but I also love running trips in the Alps with our international guide - my good friend Johanna. There's nothing quite like escaping to the mountains for a while and it makes me so happy to see all the women grow in confidence throughout the trip.
Fitness and ability
The Hikes
Here at The Adventure Girls Club, we want to make our trips as inclusive as possible; however, because of the adventurous nature of this trip, a basic level of fitness is required. Participants should be comfortable walking uphill for 4 hours at a steady, moderate pace and able to hike 10km with 700m elevation on gravel paths or narrow hiking trails.
Participants should be experienced in hiking on uneven ground and generally have no fear of moderate heights, but the hikes have no technically difficult parts. Given that we are based in one spot, you can always take a rest day.
Participants are responsible for ensuring they are fit enough and able to participate in this trek. If they are unsure whether they meet the physical and technical requirements or have the right equipment, Alice or Johanna can speak with them about the trip in advance. Please keep in mind that, no matter how the routes are rated, multi-day hikes in the Alps may feel difficult if participants have not hiked in the Alps before.
The Yoga
The hiking days are planned flexibly, taking into account both the group’s energy levels and the weather, with the yoga schedule thoughtfully aligned around the hikes. Morning sessions gently awaken the body with soft, grounding stretches, while post-hike classes focus on deeply relaxing yin yoga to release tired muscles and encourage inward reflection. On the hikes, Johanna will introduce the group to guided meditation. In the evenings, there will be one yoga nidra — also known as yogic sleep — to support deep rest and integration, as well as one mantra singing evening to warm the heart. All the yoga sessions are suitable for every level and are entirely optional; no prior yoga experience is required.
If you have any worries or concerns about if you are fit or experienced enough to come on the trip please email us hello@theadventuregirls.club and we can advise.
